Sunday’s high school scores and highlights

ROUNDUP

BOYS HOCKEY

After losing in the first round of last year’s Ed Burns Coffee Pot Tournament to eighth-seeded Franklin, second-seeded Hingham’s attack came alive in the right spots to beat No. 7 Winchester, 5-3, in this year’s Doherty division first round. Five different players scored for the Harbormen (11-1-1), including goals from Andrew Palek and Cam McKenna in the 34 seconds after the Red and Black (7-7) tied it up at 2-2 early in the second period.

“We went into last year with no expectation of how Franklin was going to be,” said senior captain Colin Lasch. “They took it to us. It was a really bad game for us, and we’ve had a real sour taste in our mouths since then. We knew that this was big, not just for us, but for the public pride. We wanted to make sure that we maximized all 45 minutes that we had on this ice today, and I think we did that.”

The final game of the Doherty’s quadruple-header saw Belmont topple Concord-Carlisle 5-1, anchored by a hat trick and an assist from Adam Bauer, and a goal and two assists from both Liam Guilderson and Leo Packard. All three are on the Marauders’ top line, which has now combined for 23 goals in a five-game win streak.

In the opening round of the Brinn Division of the Coffee Pot, Kaiden Belleville scored both goals as Chelmsford edged Walpole, 2-1. … Connor Geoghan recorded the shutout as Canton blanked Wellesley, 4-0. … Caden Altobello recorded a hat trick and six others scored, lifting Marshfield over Norwood, 9-1.
