Ex-Massachusetts Inspector General’s son busted for alleged child pornography, met up with 13-year-old at mall
The son of the former state inspector general has been busted for alleged child pornography, according to the feds.
Brookline man Scott Cunha — the son of ex-IG Glenn Cunha, who at one time as a Suffolk County assistant DA prosecuted cases involving assaults of children — has been charged with production of child pornography.
Scott Cunha, 24, is charged with recruiting a 15-year-old child to produce and send him child pornography.
Cunha was arrested at his home in Brookline — where his father is listed as an owner of the $1.8 million, six-bedroom residence, according to the Brookline assessor’s records.
According to the complaint, Cunha communicated over Snapchat with multiple minor children between 10 and 16 years old from across the country.
He allegedly recruited the children to take nude images and videos of themselves and send to him over Snapchat, often in exchange for the promise or actual transfer of money.
Cunha allegedly victimized children in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Indiana, Michigan and Missouri by enticing them to send child pornography, and offering to pay them money in exchange for meeting up with him in person and engaging in sex acts with him.
“I have probable cause to believe that CUNHA and Minor 1 corresponded over Snapchat and other internet-based platforms from approximately April 2023 through approximately July 2023,” the federal affidavit reads.
“During that time, Minor 1 was a fifteen-year-old child residing in Connecticut,” the affidavit reads. “Throughout that correspondence, CUNHA – who was twenty-three years old at that time – repeatedly requested and demanded that Minor 1 send him nude photographs and videos of herself as well as videos of her masturbating, often in exchange for money or the purchasing of items for her from Amazon.com or www.shein.com.”
Cunha allegedly met up with at least one girl, a 13-year-old from Massachusetts.
He allegedly sent a rideshare car to pick the girl up at her K-8 school, which brought her to the mall where they met up for about two hours.
“Minor 3 disclosed to the FBI that at the mall that day, CUNHA went with her into changing rooms and had her try on shirts, which enabled him to see her in her bra,” the affidavit reads. “While in the changing room, CUNHA attempted to kiss Minor 3 multiple times, succeeding in kissing her on the mouth once.
“Despite her resistance, he touched her hips, side, and tried to touch her chest area while she was trying on shirts,” the affidavit reads. “This made Minor 3 uncomfortable, and she attempted to avoid his kisses and touches. Minor 3 said she then started to just ‘walk laps’ in the mall where she could remain in public.”
The feds are urging people who believe they may be a victim of Cunha or alleged crime to call 617-748-3274.
The charge of production of child pornography has a minimum mandatory sentence of 15 years in prison, with a maximum sentence of life in prison, at least five years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
