Bruins place Marc McLaughlin on waivers
The Bruins placed forward Marc McLaughlin on waivers on Sunday.
The North Billerica native, 25, had been a scratch for five straight games until he was re-inserted into the lineup on Saturday because of the apparent head injury Mark Kastelic suffered in the waning seconds of the B’s loss in Tampa on Thursday. McLaughlin played just 4:56 in the B’s 4-3 overtime win over the Florida Panthers. McLaughlin has two goals and is minus-1 in 12 games with Boston this season.
This could mean that Kastelic is now healthy, that they plan to bring up another player from Providence or both. Without McLaughlin, the B’s would have 12 forwards on the roster.
Meanwhile, Fabian Lysell, who played well in his one game in Boston earlier this year, has continued to play well in Providence, as have Georgii Merkulov and Matt Poitras. Scrappy forward Jeffrey Viel would also be an option. The B’s next play on Tuesday at the Garden against the Lightning.
