Gophers defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman leaving for Miami
Gophers defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman has accepted the same role at Miami (Fla.), a source told Pioneer Press on Saturday.
After producing a top 20 defense in 2024, Minnesota gave Hetherman a contract extension and raise to more than $1 million for 2025 and 2026, but it’s not enough to compete with what is expected to be a much bigger offer from the Hurricanes.
Miami also will pay a six-figure buyout to Minnesota.
Last year, head coach PJ Fleck went to Rutgers for Hetherman to replace Joe Rossi, who left for same job with Michigan State. This time, Fleck is expected to stay in house with promotions. Candidates include safeties coach Danny Collins and cornerbacks coach
Nick Monroe.
