Marshfield’s Bob Fisher collects 700th career boys basketball victory
Bob Fisher’s name continues to be all over the history books.
On Friday night, Fisher became just the second boys basketball coach in Massachusetts history to reach the 700-win plateau as Marshfield defeated Silver Lake, 65-46, at Marshfield High School.
Fisher joins Bob Foley (980) in the exclusive club.
“Realistically it’s another win for these kids and yes it’s a special one but all wins are special,” Fisher said. “I am blessed to have players over the years who have been committed and passionate and dedicated to getting better as a player.”
Fisher captured his first 400 wins and a pair of state championships at Rockland. After a four-year stint at Quincy that culminated in 2008, Fisher took over the reins at Marshfield, where he has been ever since. Fisher won his 500th and 600th at the helm for the Rams.

“There is time to reflect at the season’s end on everything,” Fisher said. “All that being said, I am very fortunate to live out my dream and passion, which is to coach. I have been blessed.”
Courtesy of seven points from Dan Padden, the Rams (4-0) grabbed an 11-8 lead after one.
A triple and layup from Aiden MacIver helped the Lakers take a 14-13 advantage. Jake Brillaint, however, answered with four points and Padden cashed in five more to lead Marshfield to a 29-24 advantage at the break.
Silver Lake tried to stay in the game with two buckets from freshman Oliver Curley. The celebration of Fisher’s milestone was not to be denied. Brilliant poured in eight points to help extend the lead to nine after three. Then, in the fourth, the senior point guard drilled a step back three to give the hosts a 16-point edge with two minutes to go.
On top his career win total, Fisher has made the state tournament in all 43 years of his coaching career.
