What Patriots rookie Javon Baker needs to prove to see the field
FOXBORO — The Patriots have six wide receivers on their roster, and through four weeks, the only one who’s been held catch-less is rookie Javon Baker.
Baker has played just six snaps this season, and he’s only ran one route. The 2024 fourth-round pick was an early training camp standout before falling down the depth chart late in the summer.

“He’s an extremely talented guy. His ability to play the ball in the air and his ball skills are great,” offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said Thursday morning. “His ability to win and separate is there. For Javon, it’s really the details: lining up correctly, running the right routes, earning the trust of the coaching staff and the quarterback, as well. But there’s a bright future there. Just have to tighten down the details.”
