Boston ICE agents arrest Salvadoran national charged with raping Nantucket child: ‘Detestable and disturbing crimes’

Local ICE agents arrested a 28-year-old Salvadoran national who has been charged with raping a Nantucket child.

ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston recently nabbed Bryan Daniel Aldana-Arevalo, who’s charged with numerous sex crimes against a child on Nantucket.

“Bryan Daniel Aldana-Arevalo stands accused of some detestable and disturbing crimes against a Nantucket child,” ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd Lyons said in a statement. “He represents a significant danger to the children of our Massachusetts communities.

“ERO Boston will not tolerate such a threat to the most vulnerable of our population,” Lyons added. “We will continue to prioritize the safety of our public by arresting and removing egregious noncitizen offenders from our New England neighborhoods.”

Aldana-Arevalo unlawfully entered the U.S. on an unknown date, at an unknown location, without having been inspected, admitted or paroled by a U.S. immigration official, according to ICE.

Nantucket authorities arraigned Aldana-Arevalo on July 26 in Nantucket District Court for one count of rape of a child with a 10-year age difference, and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

The Nantucket District Court then released Aldana-Arevalo on bail July 29.

Officers from ERO Boston arrested Aldana-Arevalo last week on Nantucket, and served him with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge. Aldana-Arevalo remains in ERO custody.

ERO conducts removals of individuals without a lawful basis to remain in the U.S., including at the order of immigration judges with Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review.

The Executive Office for Immigration Review is a separate entity from the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Immigration judges in these courts make decisions based on the merits of each individual case, determining if a noncitizen is subject to a final order of removal or eligible for certain forms of relief from removal.
