Audrey Koch and Mary Cate Scarinci got the goals for Norwell in a 2-1 South Shore League win over Carver.

Izzy Fiorentino’s hat trick with an assist, along with Taylor Valiton’s two goals and three assists, powered Lynnfield over Hamilton-Wenham 6-0 in Cape Ann League action. … Margaret Winslow notched a hat trick, and Gyovanna Barros tallied two goals as Essex Tech cruised to a 6-0 victory over Amesbury.

Thomas Constantine shot a four-under par 32 as Xaverian beat Bridgewater-Raynham 210-256 in a nonleague matchup. … Jay Sherwood shot a 38 for BC High in a 247-249 win over Central Catholic.

Joe DaCosta shot a three-under par 35 to lead Hanover (2-3) in a 222-260 Patriot League victory against Quincy. … Matt NeJame and Jack Fisher shot a 37 each as Duxbury defeated Marshfield, 231-238.

Oh-jak Kwon and Will Goldstein shot one-over par 36 for Weston in a 53-19 Dual County League win over Cambridge.

Max Arredondo scored a goal and provided an assist to George Spellios, boosting Swampscott to a 2-1 Northeastern Conference win over Winthrop.

Caoillain Knight netted the lone goal off an assist from Kathleen Murphy as Blue Hills edged Avon 1-0 in Mayflower Athletic Conference play.

Claire Patterson supplied two assists as Dexter Southfield (1-0) defeated Middlesex 2-0 in NEPSAC action. … Nina Mathelus struck for two goals as Thayer defeated Winsor, 4-0.

Amanda Schneider and Brooke Hagerty paced the scoring with two goals each for Masconomet in a 7-0 Northeastern Conference win over Beverly.

Kelsey Tuttle’s hat trick powered Norwell in a 7-0 win over East Bridgewater in South Shore League play.

Kylie Fuller found the net twice for West Bridgewater in a 4-0 South Coast Conference win over Bourne.

In the South Coast Conference, Maggie Kazanjian scored a goal off a cross from Cailee Leonard while Haleigh Kelley had five saves as Dighton Rehoboth secured a 1-0 shutout over Greater New Bedford.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Lindsey Barber went on an 11 point service run in the second set and finished with 26 assists and 10 digs, while Chloe McKinnon had 14 kills as Dartmouth (2-2) bested Dennis-Yarmouth 3-0 in a nonleague clash.

Tess Madden recorded 11 kills, five aces and 10 digs as Hanover beat Plymouth South 3-2 in the Patriot League.

Elle McCormack registered 23 assists and eight aces, while Avery Santos floored 13 aces and 21 service points as Greater New Bedford swept Dighton-Rehoboth 3-0 in the South Coast Conference.

Freshman Charlie Ballestas had four aces, 12 service points and 10 kills for Reading in a 3-0 Middlesex League win over Stoneham.

BASKETBALL

Longtime local basketball icon Francis “Red” McGrail passed away days short of his 91st birthday. One of the more passionate sideline figures, McGrail spent more than five decades in coaching starting at St. Thomas Aquinas HS in Jamaica Plain in the late 1950s.

He then arrived at North Cambridge Catholic and spent several years there before taking time off in the 1970s to help raise his family. He returned to NCC in the 1980s and coached for more than two decades before retiring with his son, Jim, who also coached at NCC.
