Thursday Pickorama

New year, same rough start.

We were hoping that the 2024 season would provide us with more favorable results. That clearly was not the case as we scuffled to a 6-4 start, losing in every fashion from a Hail Mary to close contests to a one-sided rout.

No sense crying and it’s time to move on to Week 2.

BISHOP FEEHAN over Chelmsford: Shamrocks get into the win column for the first time this season.

Needham over NATICK: Rockets looking to show that they are the elite of the Bay State Conference.

BC High over FAIRHAVEN: Eagles get the call in this rare non-league matchup.

Westford Academy over LOWELL: Have all the faith in the world in Scott Boyle turning it around in Lowell, but Westford Academy is a tall opening task.

MILFORD over Leominster: Two of the better quarterbacks around on display here, but I’ll give the edge to Milford at the other positions.

DUXBURY over Mansfield: Not comforting ever picking against Duxbury at home (or on the road for that matter).

MARSHFIELD over Methuen: I sense a solid bounce back effort from the Rams at home.

MELROSE over Reading: Third time is the charm for Tim Morris in his quest to join the 200-win club.

Springfield Central over CENTRAL CATHOLIC: Western Mass. power primed for a run at a Div. 1 state championship.

CARVER over Nantucket: Plenty of new faces but plenty of the same results as last year.
