Singapore August 2024: BYD up 284.7%, Xpeng in Top 20

Xpeng already breaks into the Singaporean Top 20 for its 2nd month in market.

The Singaporean new car market surges 55.4% year-on-year in August to 3,949 sales, leading to a year-to-date tally up 45.7% to 26,442. Toyota (-3.1%) massively underperforms but stays in the brands lead with 14.3% share. BYD (+284.7%) continues to impress at #2 and 12.8% share, with Tesla (+129.9%), Honda (+107.8%) and Hyundai (+83.3%) also beating the market. Nissan (+57.7%) also fares well at #8 but BMW (+51.2%) and Mercedes (+27.4%) grow slower than the market. They are fighting for the third place overall both this month (4 units difference) and year-to-date (10 units difference). Notice also MG (+472.7%), Subaru (+430%) and Audi (+100%) as well as newcomer GAC at #13. For its 2nd month in market, Xpeng is up 21 spots to #18.
