Vikings receiver Jordan Addison to miss practice with ankle injury
The status of receiver Jordan Addison is very much up in the air as the Vikings prepare for a tough matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
After suffering an ankle injury midway through the season opener — it was about the only thing that went wrong for the Vikings as they coasted to a 28-6 win over the New York Giants — Addison was expected to miss practice on Wednesday afternoon at TCO Performance Center.
“He’s going to stay in and get some treatment,” head coach Kevin O’Connell said. “We’re taking it a day at a time with Jordan.”
The ankle injury occurred after Addison caught a screen pay from quarterback Sam Darnold. As he turned up the field in an attempt and gain more yards, Addison got pulled down awkwardly while being tackled. He stayed in the blue medical tent for roughly 15 minutes before walking to the locker room with a towel over his head.
If Addison is unable to play for the Vikings against the 49ers on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium, speedy receiver Jalen Nailor will likely be asked to step up to fill the void, as will veteran receiver Brandon Powell and physical receiver Trent Sherfield Sr.
