Summer’s nearly over, but free Rice Park roller skating continues through September

Disco dancing and skating come together this fall for family friendly evenings in Rice Park.

Twin Cities Skaters will host free “Friday Roller Disco” events 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 13, 20 and 27 around the Rice Park fountain at 109 W. Fourth St. in St. Paul.

“People love it, they love the vibe even if they don’t skate,” said James Adams, founder of Twin Cities Skaters.

“From beginners to pros to those who just want dance, all ages and levels are welcome,” with no registration required, according to their website, twincitiesskaters.com.

Music of varying genres will be played by avid skater DJ Presto. Rental roller skates and limited numbers of rollerblades and safety gear will be available from sizes toddler through men’s 14.

“It’s community oriented and we help clean up the area,” Adams said. “We always leave the area cleaner than when we came.”
