GRASSO’S GARAGE: 2025 Infiniti QX80 is luxury sticker shock
When Infiniti entered Grasso’s Garage in the past, we were excited that the brand’s models exceeded expectations while still maintaining a correct price point for what the end user actually received. With similarities to Nissan still being in the picture, we recognized nicely apportioned accouterments. But for 2025, hang on to your hard hat, this one is going to hit the pocket hard. I give you the 2025 Infiniti QX80 Autograph tester, the brand’s flagship SUV, with a base price of $112,590.
This overly excessive base price grants the Nissan Motor Co. the pricing inflation of the year award in Grasso’s Garage as our 2022 Infiniti QX80 tester provided a $84K base price. Nearing a $30K pricing gap, the 2025 luxury 7-seater SUV is certainly very nice and has seen some significant overhaul both aesthetically, comfortably, and mechanically. With complete overhaul in mind, a new 450 horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.5 liter V-6 is added to the QX80 and pairs nicely with a 9-speed automatic transmission. While quieter over the past generation, the 8-cylinder will certainly be missed, while we do recognize more power than ever.
Riding on monster 22-inch wheels, the Autographs standard features have a large array of nicely paired upgrades. Google maps, easy to use navigation, tons of apps and even a center console refrigerator/cooler for your on the go food and beverage cooling needs.
Infiniti has always been a great option in the past as they have a portion of the consumer market cornered with their excessive comfort and great reliability, but when a 6-figure flagship enters the room, all rise to the occasion. With a slew of other monster luxury SUVs in this market, this price point puts them in contention with BMW, Mercedes, Cadillac and others which have easily handled this market nicely and well done. Adding another option in this already inflated category could mean disaster for Nissan’s upscale brand, but hopefully their clientele is loyal to the brand and keeps this new generation afloat.
