Cape Cod sharks spotted 50 feet from shore: ‘White shark activity is just beginning to peak’

Peak beach season is already over, but peak great white shark season is just getting started along the Cape.

Shark alerts were lighting up the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s Sharktivity app on Wednesday, as the apex predators were spotted close to beaches.

Sharks were seen about 50 feet from the shoreline.

“Pilot reports white shark headed south 50 feet off Nauset Light Beach,” reads the shark alert from the Eastham beach.

Then Nauset ORV north had a report of a shark 50 feet from the beach.

Meanwhile, a pilot spotted three great whites near Marconi Beach in Wellfleet.

“!! SHARK ALERTS !! Kids are back in school, summer is winding down but white shark activity is just beginning to peak,” posted shark researcher John Chisholm.

“If you’re headed to the ocean you need to remain vigilant!” added Chisholm, who confirms shark sightings for the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. “Download the @sharktivity app if you haven’t already. It will keep you updated on sightings & alerts.”
