How to have the best Labor Day Weekend in Mass.

Has hot fun in the summertime turned into sweaty panic about the end of the season? Don’t worry, we’ve got a few choice ideas to help you cram loads of fun into this Labor Day Weekend.

King Richard’s Faire, Carver

OK, here are some cosplay ideas no one will take, ensuring you stand out among the knights, wizards and elves: A gelatinous cube from Dungeons & Dragons, that rooster that narrates Disney’s “Robin Hood,” He-Man sidekick Orko, Samwise Gamgee (sorry, but nobody likes Sam). Even if you do dress as a knight, wizard or elf, you’ll still have loads of fun at New England’s premiere renaissance festival. There’s jousting, jokers, magic, blacksmiths, beer, and beer maidens. The Faire opens Labor Day Weekend and runs to Oct. 20. kingrichardsfaire.net

Dispatch with the Boston Pops, Tanglewood

Who doesn’t want to hear “The General” with a full symphony orchestra? On Saturday, Boston’s biggest indie band ever plays with Keith Lockhart’s Boston Pops in beautiful Tanglewood. If you’ve never seen Dispatch, the roots-jam-punk-folk band has enormous energy. If you’ve never been to Tanglewood, the summer symphony’s home is the most beautiful concert venue in New England. bso.org

Country Fair at Cider Hill Farm, Amesbury

Quick, think of something at a country fair. Did you think tractor rides, face painting, apple crisp, kettle corn, grilled corn, old timey kids games, alpacas, live music, or pick-your-own apples or blueberries or flowers? Great, Cider Hill Farm has all of that plus a cider slushie stand (like frosé but New Englandy). The fun goes down Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. www.ciderhill.com/events/country-fair

WooSox game, Worcester

The big guys are on the road so no games at Fenway. Why not have all the fun at a fraction of the price? The WooSox play the legendary Toledo MudHens (Max Klinger and Jamie Farr’s favorite baseball team) Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Polar Park. Tickets start at $12. milb.com/worcester

“The Terminator,” Somerville Theatre

Hey, he said he’d be back. Well, he’s back for his 40th anniversary with multiple showings at the Somerville Theatre. James Cameron’s masterpiece of evil machines, absolute mayhem and one liners — “I think this guy’s a couple cans short of a six-pack” — began Arnold Schwarzenegger’s run as a box-office king. Low-budget, high-reward, “The Terminator” still has a dark energy unlike anything else. somervilletheatre.com

Stay home, crank the AC, watch classic movies

Maybe you don’t want to enjoy summer. Maybe you want to sit in the dark and indulge in the witty repartee of the golden age of cinema. May we suggest Criterion’s September collection “Rebels at the Typewriter: Women Screenwriters of the 1930s?” During the decade, genius women pushed pre-Code standards with humor and bite. This collection has classics from legends Anita Loos (“Red-Headed Woman”) and Frances Marion (“Dinner at Eight”) as well as a host of offerings from unknown who should be knowns. criterionchannel.com
