Red Sox lineup: Zack Kelly to start nightcap against Blue Jays as opener

The Red Sox have opted for an opener in the second game of Monday’s doubleheader, announcing that right-hander Zack Kelly will start the nightcap.

Kelly has made two starts as an opener this season, and overall he is 5-2 with a 2.74 ERA on the year. He will most likely pitch an inning or two, and after that the Red Sox could either go with a full bullpen game or hand the ball to Cooper Criswell or Brad Keller, either of whom could pitch into the fifth or sixth as a bulk reliever.

Offensively the Red Sox will load up with lefties against Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios (12-9, 3.79). Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu, Triston Casas and Rafael Devers will bat one through four, with Boston’s outfield consisting of Tyler O’Neill in left, Duran in center and Abreu in right. Rookie Mickey Gasper will start at second base, Connor Wong will catch and Ceddanne Rafaela will start at shortstop.
