Pedestrian fatally struck last weekend on Blaine roadway

A pedestrian was killed early Saturday when he was struck while walking in Blaine.

Randy Jay Bjurstrom, 27, of Princeton, was killed in the collision, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.

The incident occurred at 5:46 a.m. Saturday at southbound University Avenue (Minnesota 47) and 85th Avenue Northwest in Blaine, according to the report.

Authorities said Bjurstrom was walking in the lanes of traffic of southbound University when he was struck by a 2008 Toyota Highlander.

The driver of the Highlander, Mohamed Boya Lango, 32, of Anoka, was not injured. His vehicle’s airbag deployed, and he was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

The collision remains under investigation by the State Patrol, Blaine police and Anoka County sheriff’s office.
