Stillwater Lift Bridge to close Wednesday for electrical work
The Stillwater Lift Bridge will be closed for part of the day on Wednesday while crews replace an electrical power cable used to operate the lift span of the bridge, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Pedestrians and bicyclists will not be allowed to use the bridge and the bridge’s lift schedule will be suspended while the work is underway. Crews expect to be working from 8 a.m. until about 3 p.m., MnDOT officials said.
During that time period, the lift span of the bridge will be partially raised “so that smaller boats and other watercraft will be able to pass beneath the structure,” MnDOT officials said.
Once the new electrical cable is installed, the bridge will reopen, and the lift span will resume lifts for marine traffic.
In case of inclement weather, crews will repair the bridge on Thursday instead.
