Boston Police arrest Massachusetts Level 3 sex offender for allegedly peeping into Roxbury bathroom window
A 26-year-old Level 3 sex offender who has a history of being dubbed a ‘peeping Tom’ has been arrested again for allegedly looking into an occupied bathroom window of a Boston home.
The city’s Youth Violence Strike Force arrested John Furr in New Bedford on Thursday, more than a day after he was “observed looking into an occupied bathroom window” in the area of Devon Street in Roxbury.
Boston Police officers assigned to Roxbury received the report of Furr getting caught in the act at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities took the suspect into custody on a warrant issued out of Dorchester District Court for secret sexual surveillance and trespassing.
Furr has an open case in Suffolk Superior Court, the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office confirmed to the Herald.
“He is being charged with assault to rape a child, disseminating obscene matter to a minor, enticing a child under 16, and three counts of rape of a child,” the office said.
That case is scheduled for trial on Jan. 14, 2025.
The Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board lists Furr as homeless and his secondary residence as 40 Forest St. in Roxbury, about two miles away from Devon Street where he was caught.
Furr’s history of allegedly trying to watch people without their knowledge dates back to at least 2017. That year, he was arrested three times – all for peeping, Boston 25 reported.
The first arrest came in January 2017 when police nabbed him for allegedly peeping into homes in Abington before the second came just a month later, with Furr being arrested for allegedly taking pictures of women in the dressing rooms at Arden in Braintree, where he worked.
The third unfolded that December while on probation and wearing a GPS monitoring bracelet, with Furr allegedly caught looking into windows of Abington homes again, Boston 25 reported.
