Turkiye July 2024: Chery places Tiggo 7 Pro at #2 and Omoda 5 at #6

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is up to a record 2nd place in July.

The Turkish new light vehicle market confirms it has now plateaued with a fourth consecutive year-on-year drop at -16.4% to 94,037 units. This is still the second best July result below the 112,459 units reached last year. The year-to-date volume is still at record heights for now at +0.5% to 672,018. The Top 3 carmakers all trail the market with heavy losses. Fiat is down -39.8% to 11.8% share, Volkswagen is  off -26.4% to 9.3% vs. 7.5% year-to-date and gains three spots on last month to #2, and Ford (-31.3%) completes the podium. Toyota (+5.3%) and Renault (+2.7%) defy the negative market but the best performer of the month is once again Chery (+32%) ranking at #5 overall and equalling its highest ever market share at 7.1%. Seat (+87.6%), Nissan (+74.2%), Mercedes (+37.4%) and Skoda (+34.1%) also impress below while local EV maker Togg falls further to #21.

Over in the models ranking, the Fiat Egea Sedan easily holds onto the top spot with 6.9% share. This month’s event is just below: the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro leaps up four ranks on June to land at a record 2nd place with 4.2% share. It ranks #7 year-to-date with 2.7% of the market. The Renault Clio stays at #3 while the Renault Megane Sedan is down two spots to #4. The next four models all improve sharply on last month: the VW Polo is up 14 ranks to #5, the Chery Omoda 5 is up 9 to a record 6th place, the Peugeot 3008 is up 5 to #7 and the Nissan Qashqai is up 16 to #8. Other great performers include the VW Tiguan up to #11, the Skoda Superb up to #17, the Seat Arona up to #20 and the Toyota C-HR up to #21.
