ICE arrests alleged Massachusetts migrant hotel rapist set free on $500 bail

Cory Alvarez, a Haitian national accused of raping a 15-year-old girl at a Rockland migrant hotel, was arrested by ICE today, the Herald has learned.

Alvarez, 26, was free on $500 bail after a Plymouth court did not honor a federal immigration detainer. Law enforcement sources say Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested him today.

He was last said to be living in Brockton, but it is unclear this morning if that’s where they tracked him down.

Plymouth DA Tim Cruz had also filed a pre-trial motion to keep Alvarez locked up until his case was decided. That was denied, as stated in the court papers. Another source tells the Herald Alvarez was on a GPS monitor.

Alvarez is accused of raping a teen girl who police described in a report as “disabled,” but did not specify any specific disability. He has pleaded not guilty.

Alvarez and the alleged victim both lived at the Comfort Inn at 850 Hingham St. in Rockland, which has been converted to a migrant housing facility operating under both state and federal programs, according to prosecutors.

The Hingham Court clerk’s office instructed the Herald to email all questions concerning Alvarez. They sent back court papers listing he had been indicted to the superior court level.

Rockland Police responded to the hotel a little after 7 p.m. on March 13 after a desk clerk there called to report a rape, according to the police report.

“He raped me,” the girl would tell investigators from an examination room at South Shore Hospital, according to the police report. “I asked him to leave me alone but he didn’t stop.”

This is a developing story …
