Finland July 2024: Toyota Yaris Cross signs first ever win, C-HR up to #3

The Toyota Yaris Cross is the best-selling model in Finland in July.

It’s an 8th straight month of year-on-year declines for the Finnish new car market in July at -19.9% year-on-year to 5,033 units. This way, the YTD total is off -17.3% to just 43,323. Toyota (-20.5%) roughly follows the market and easily keeps the brands pole position with 19.6% share. Volvo (+12.2%) brilliantly goes against the grain with sales up by double-digits at #2, a ranking it also holds year-to-date vs. #4 over the Full Year 2023. Skoda (-39%) is relegated to third place above Volkswagen (-23.4%) and Kia (-33.4%) all sinking. Nissan, up a spectacular 100.7%, and Hyundai (+28%) are the only islands of growth in the remainder of the Top 13.

The Toyota Yaris Cross (+48.3%) takes the lead of the models charts or the very first time at 5.9% share, after reaching #2 last April. The Toyota Corolla (-22.8%) drops to #2 with 5.2% of the market while the Toyota C-HR (+165.2%) takes full advantage of the new generation by climbing 8 spots on June to land on the third step of the podium. It’s the nameplate’s highest ranking since also hitting #3 back in April 2023. The honeymoon launch period slowly recedes for the Volvo EX40, off two ranks on last month to #4 and 3.2% share, below the 3.3% it commands year-to-date. The Nissan Qashqai rallies back up 80.6% on a particularly weak year-ago result. Finally, we welcome the Opel Astra at #9.
