Cardi B reveals ‘freak accident’ nearly caused her to lose unborn baby
Cardi B has opened up about a recent medical emergency she claims almost led to the loss of her unborn baby.
In a conversation on X Spaces on Thursday, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper, 31, discussed what she called a “freak accident,” revealing she slipped while descending a flight of stairs and felt a sudden “pop” in her side.
Cardi said she was left unable to move, and after attempting to sleep off the pain, woke up feeling worse.
“When I woke up, I couldn’t move my bottom at all. Just moving my feet was hurting the bottom of my stomach. I couldn’t move, I felt paralyzed,” she said, in a quote obtained by Us Weekly.
Concerned she might miscarry, Cardi rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered she had torn a ligament in her pelvis, right where the baby’s head was positioned.
The injury was so severe the rapper began having contractions every two minutes for a full 24 hours, she said.
She recovered in the hospital for three days, during which time doctors administered morphine to help her deal with the pain. She was put on bed rest after being discharged from the facility.
Despite the frightening experience, Cardi reassured her fans that her baby is safe, though she continues to struggle with the pain.
The news comes a week after Cardi announced she was pregnant with her third child — just one day after filing for divorce from her estranged husband, Offset, with whom she shares two other children, Kulture, 6, and Wave, 2.
She has not said whether Offset is the father of her current baby.
