Actor Akili McDowell Charged with Murder

Akili McDowell, an actor who appeared in the television series David Makes Men, has been accused of murder in the July shooting death of the man. The incident took place in the parking lot of a Houston apartment complex, said authorities.

Mr. McDowell, 21, was arrested and charged on Thursday with the murder of Cesar Peralta, according to the complaint filed.

The actor was being held on the $400,000 bond in the Harris County jail, and scheduled to be arraigned on October 9, 2024. However, a lawyer for the actor did not respond to the actor’s statement immediately.

Mr McDowell’s manager, Jonell White, offered prayers to the deceased family and the actor. However, she declined to make any further comments.

The Harris County Sheriff responded to the reports of a shooting on July 20, in the claims of the murder of Cesar Peralta.

The social media post read, “An adult male (possibly in his 20s) sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Suspect(s) fled the scene.”

An update to the post clarified, “Homicide investigators charged Akili McDowell (21) with murder in the shooting death of Cesar Peralta (20). McDowell was recently taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail.”

However, it has not been known whether the victim was known to the acto or how McDowell was accused as the murderer.

According to the online jail records, Akili is being held at $313,000 Euros bond for the murder charge.

The actor has been featured in TV shows including Billions. Additionally, he has also worked on several films including Criminal Activity and The Waterboyz.

Later on, his manager gave a short comment on the incident, and said that the arrest was “an unfortunate situation and I am in prayer for Akili and those impacted by this tragedy.”
