A legendary Ferrari, the 1957 Ferrari 335 S, is set to make a grand appearance at this summer’s Salon Privé Concours at Blenheim Palace. This extraordinary machine, with chassis number ‘0674’, boasts a rich racing history. This beauty once graced the collection of famed Ferrari collector Pierre Bardinon for over 40 years.

A Racing Pedigree Like No Other

Widely considered one of the greatest Ferraris ever built, the Ferrari 335 S was a star of the 1957 World Sports Car Championship. Its exceptional four-cam engine, a first for Ferrari, set it apart, along with its lightweight aluminium body and unlimited engine size.

From 290 MM to 335 S: A Transformation

Interestingly, this Ferrari began life as a 290 MM Spyder Scaglietti, driven by racing icons like Juan Manuel Fangio and Wolfgang von Trips. It underwent multiple transformations, evolving into the 315 S and finally the 335 S. The 335 S made its debut at the 1957 Sebring 12 Hours, driven by Peter Collins and Maurice Trintignant.

Le Mans, Swedish GP, and Beyond

The 335 S went on to compete in legendary races like the 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Swedish GP. It even secured a victory at the Cuban Grand Prix, driven by Stirling Moss and Masten Gregory.

A Collector’s Dream

After an illustrious racing career, the 335 S found its way into the hands of various collectors, including Robert Duesk and Pierre Bardinon. Bardinon’s team meticulously restored the car, and it became a cherished part of his private collection.

A New Chapter

The current owner, an American collector, acquired this masterpiece at the 2005 Artcurial Retromobil Auction. Since then, the 335 S has been showcased at prestigious events worldwide. These included Finali Mondiali Daytona and the Ferrari Classiche Concours.

A Star on the Silver Screen

Adding to its impressive provenance, this very Ferrari 335 S served as the blueprint for replicas used in the filming of Michael Mann’s latest movie, ‘Ferrari’, about the 1957 racing season.
