Midsummer gets me thinking ahead to fall fashion. Fortunately, one of my favorite brands has just landed in Boston. That’s right: The Danish fashion house GANNI has opened a brand new, flagship brick and mortar boutique at 182 Newbury St..

The Copenhagen-based progressive luxury fashion brand is owned and run by a fabulous husband-and-wife team, Creative Director Ditte Reffstrup and Founder Nicolaj Reffstrup. The duo puts forward a refreshing and uplifting philosophy and business practice, and is on a mission to collaborate with its supply chain to reduce its carbon emissions. (They even publish an annual Responsibility Report to share the company’s progress and have committed to a 50% absolute carbon reduction by 2027.) Their clothing is made from as much certified recycled, or organic materials as possible.

I love the ethos of the clothing itself: The mantra is all about making the people wearing the clothes feel confident and comfortable. That notion carries through in all kinds of key pieces I’m eyeing for fall. They’re all available in the new store (for a guaranteed better fit, that’s always my preference) and online. For example:

The Leopard Small Ganni Bou Bag ($495 on ganni.com/us). It may be mini, but it’s a mighty statement. From its geometric shape to its standout leopard pattern, it’s a winner. It’s constructed of 65% recycled leather and 65% recycled cotton, and sports all kinds of charming details. Check out its tone-on-tone butterfly logo, the adjustable and removable shoulder strap, and the braided top handle with a braided knot.

White Duchess Satin Mini Dress ($425 on ganni.com/us). How simple. How minimalist, in “Egret” solid white. How easy a thing to just slip on for an evening out. The flared skirt makes the look unique and flirty, while the square neckline and straps with a button closure add a Jackie O.-like quality. Oh, and it’s made of 100% recycled polyester.

Denim Feminine Buckle Ballerinas ($425 on ganni.com/us). As we transition from hot summer to cooler fall days, we could all use a pair of slingbacks like these to accentuate any look. Their pointed toe nods to fall’s dressier moments, while the straps remind us of summer sandals. And the two silver-tone buckles with matching eyelets and a black squared block heel are all details that take them far beyond basic. What’s more, their materials include 45% recycled leather and 20% recycled polyester.

Shiny Check Jacquard Midi Dress ($425 on ganni.com/us). As cute as it is chic, it’s a go-anywhere-and-do-anything type of piece. It would be at home in my wardrobe on a fall trip to Paris, on a weekend in New York, or just an afternoon at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. I love the round neckline and open back (which has a tie detail), and its fabrics; it’s made of 62% organic cotton, 38% polyester, and the lining is 100% Recycled Polyester. And yes, no matter what your grandmother used to tell you, white is certainly appropriate after Labor Day.
