Global computer bug bites Mass General, Logan Airport, RMV
The major Microsoft outage continues to ripple through businesses today, with Mass General Brigham calling off all “non-urgent” visits and surgeries, flights out of Logan Airport delayed and the RMV reporting the computer bug has bitten them, too.
Mass General said the hospital chain is “not able to access our clinical systems, including patient health records and scheduling. As a result, all non-urgent visits at all Mass General Brigham hospitals and clinics are cancelled for today, Friday, July 19, 2024. If you have a non-urgent visit scheduled, a care team member will reach out to you to reschedule. Please do not call to reschedule today.”
They are, however, open for “urgent appointments and procedures, and our emergency rooms remain open.”
Travelers at Logan Airport were told earlier this morning that flights were delayed for 2 hours — or canceled. “Please check with your airline before coming to the airport,” Boston Logan stated in a tweet.
The Registry of Motor Vehicles reported today that they, too, are struggling.
MassDOT said this morning: “The Registry is still evaluating services, however, the following Registry operations are impacted:
The Registry has cancelled customer service center appointments before 12 noon today as many workstations at centers are not operational.
Road test appointments are being held.
No vehicle inspections can occur.
Credit card payments cannot be made on the Registry website.
The Registry has limited capacity to accept phone calls at the Registry ‘s contact center.
Please check with AAA before arriving for transaction needs.”
This is a developing story …
