Boston 25 hires news director who used to be at WCVB: ‘Grateful to be coming home’
A longtime Boston TV news behind-the-scenes producer and director is coming back to the Hub.
Boston 25 has named Scott Isaacs as its news director.
Isaacs, who spent more than a decade at WCVB, has most recently been the news director at NBC 10 in Providence.
“20 years after moving to Boston and a wonderful run here @NBC10 (more on that to come), I’m happy to announce the next twenty will kick off at @boston25,” Isaacs posted on social media.
“I’m grateful to be coming ‘home,’ and I can’t wait to start building something exciting with a great group of journalists,” he added. “See you all in a few weeks!”
Before his seven years in Providence, Isaacs spent 13 years at WCVB. For most of his tenure, he served as executive producer and sports director.
He helped lead coverage of breaking news events, including the Boston Marathon bombing, the capture and trial of Whitey Bulger, and the fall of Aaron Hernandez.
“Local news has never been more important than it is right now,” Isaacs said. “I’m honored to be joining the talented staff at Boston 25. I’m excited about evolving Boston 25’s innovative news product so that we are there whenever and wherever our viewers need us.”
Isaacs is joining Boston 25 as the station has had some recent departures, including Vanessa Welch. The Globe reported that more than a dozen employees have left this year.
Boston 25 is under the Cox Media Group umbrella.
