Porsche Expands Electric Macan Range with Lower Priced Rear-Wheel-Drive 4S Trim

Porsche is expanding its electric Macan lineup by introducing new trims, including a rear-wheel-drive base model and the 4S, adding more variety and options for consumers. Initially, Porsche only unveiled the Macan 4 and Turbo models earlier this year.

The new base model, which ditches the front motor, is 243 pounds lighter than the Macan 4. This model uses the same rear-mounted electric motor as the Macan 4, offering 335 horsepower, which temporarily rises to 355 horsepower with launch control. Despite being down by 47 horsepower compared to its all-wheel-drive (AWD) counterpart, the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model still delivers impressive performance. It generates 415 lb-ft of torque, 64 lb-ft less than the AWD version, but can still accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, just half a second slower than the dual-motor Macan 4. The RWD Macan EV can reach a top speed of 136 mph, matching its AWD sibling.

Priced at $77,295, including destination and handling fees, the RWD Macan is $3,155 less than the AWD model. Stepping up to the Macan 4S, Porsche offers 442 horsepower, with the ability to boost to 509 horsepower using overboost. This trim delivers 578 lb-ft of torque with launch control, making it significantly more powerful than the non-S model. The 4S accelerates to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, a full second quicker than the Macan 4, and has a top speed of 149 mph.

The Macan 4S features the same front motor as the Macan 4 but has a more powerful rear motor, enabling the additional performance. Both new models can charge their 95-kWh batteries at up to 270 kW, allowing a 10 to 80 percent charge in about 21 minutes. Standard features include air suspension and electronic damping control.

Priced at $86,895, the Macan 4S is $6,445 more than the Macan 4. The electric Macan also comes with a new Slate Grey Neo color, 20-inch wheels, and an off-road design package that improves the approach angle to 17.5 degrees and increases ground clearance by 0.4 inches to 7.6 inches. The air suspension can raise the ground clearance to 8.8 inches in its highest setting. The off-road package includes a different front bumper, side skirts, diffuser, and roof railings, which can be painted in Vesuvius Grey or body color.

The newly added models are available to order now, with deliveries starting in the fourth quarter of the year. While the first-generation gasoline-powered Macan remains available, Porsche has announced that production will end by mid-2026.
