Austria June 2024: Sales up 25.2%, Mitsubishi Space Star up to #2, BYD Atto 3 at #13

The Mitsubishi Space Star soars to #2 overall in Austria in June.

30,693 new cars hit Austrian roads in June, a fantastic 25.2% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date volume is now up 6.6% to 135,113 halfway through the year. Brand leader Volkswagen (+40.5%) manages to vastly outpace the market to 16.7% share v. 15.5% over H1. Skoda (-7.8%) stays in 2nd place but disappoint at 7% share vs. 8.9%  so far this year. Excellent month for Hyundai (+47.9%) up six spots on May to #3, distancing Audi (-8.1%), BMW (+5.8%) and Seat (+6.4%) all underperforming. The best result of the month goes to Mitsubishi, up 446.8% year-on-year and 15 ranks on last month to #7. Tesla (+13.6%) is lukewarm at #9. Suzuki (+137.2%), Fiat (+93.2%) and Cupra (+45.9%) also impress below.

Model-wise, the VW Golf (+310.9%) continues on its euphoric run and sells almost twice as much as any other model in the market and holds a 5.5% share. The Mitsubishi Space Star (+768.7%) surges from outside the May Top 20 directly into 2nd place overall, undoubtedly thanks to rushed sales before new European safety regulations are put in place. The VW Bus (+141.1%) is also up spectacularly at #3 but the Skoda Octavia (-3.8%) drops to #4. The VW Tiguan (+41.4%) ranks #5 and is up to #6 YTD. Outstanding month for the Cupra Leon (+125.5%) at #7 and the Hyundai i20 (+316.2%) at #9. Finally the BYD Atto 3 (+486.1%) breaks into the Austrian Top 20 at #13.
