Woman charged with arson after allegedly setting Charlestown residence ablaze

A Charlestown woman was arrested Wednesday after allegedly intentionally setting fire to a residence, Boston Police reported Thursday.

Officers responded to reports of a fire at 4 Meade Street in Charlestown on Wednesday, Boston Police stated. The cops began to block off streets in the area as Boston Fire teams worked on the active fire.

After further investigation into the blaze, BPD said, responders determined Katherine Cox, 34, of Charlestown, intentionally set the fire.

Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, officers and members of the Fire Investigation Unit placed Cox under arrest on charges of arson of a dwelling and burning personal property, Boston Police said.

Boston Police did not immediately release information on the damage caused by the fire or a possible motive for the arson.

Cox is expected to be arraigned in Charlestown District Court.
