Finland June 2024: Toyota Corolla and Volvo EX30 lead in devastated market (-26.7%)

The Volvo EX30 ranks #2 in Finland in June.

Another very difficult month for the Finnish new car market, enduring a 7th straight month of year-on-year declines. Sales are off a damning -26.7% to just 6,571 for the month and down -17% to 38,287 year-to-date. Toyota (-28.8%) and Skoda (-30.4%) fall even faster than the market but manage to hold the top two spots. Just one unit below Skoda is Volvo (+2.4%) defying the freefalling market with a shy gain. Volkswagen (-30.4%), Kia (-18.9%), Tesla (-46.7%) and Mercedes (-37.6%) all struggle. Nissan (+56.2%) and Ford (+29.1%) sign the only two additional gains in the Top 10. Below, Mitsubishi (+104.3%) shines and Polestar (+68.3%) delivers its highest ranking since December 2022 at #13.

Over in the models lane, the Toyota Corolla (-26.6%) reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date and matches the market’s drop. The new Volvo EX30 continues to stun at #2 with 4.1% share. The Toyota Yaris (+0.8%) defies the negative context to round out the podium and now ranks #2 year-to-date, dislodging its big brother the Yaris Cross. The Tesla Model Y (-63.2%) climbs back up six spots on last month to #4 but is nowhere near its year-ago performance. It only ranks #7 year-to-date whereas it totally dominated the charts in 2023. Other great performers include the Nissan Qashqai (+70.9%), Tesla Model 3 (+46.5%) and Skoda Fabia (#10).
