Report: Bruins land both Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov

The Bruins did most of what they wanted to do – if not everything they needed to do – on Monday, nabbing a top-six centerman and a physical defenseman.

TSN’s Darren Dreger reported the B’s signed two-way center Elias Lindholm and massive defenseman Nikita Zadorov. The Athletic’s Chris Johnston reported that Lindholm’s deal is seven years at $7.75 million average annual value and Zadorov’s deal is six years at $5 million AAV.

The 6-foot-1, 202-pound Lindholm’s best season was in 2021-22, when he had 42-40-82 totals while playing between Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk. After those two stars left, he had a drop-off, but he still had a decent season with 22-42-64.

Lindholm, 29, spent last season with between Calgary and Vancouver, where he never really found his niche, through he did have a good playoff with five goals and five assists in 13 games.

He’ll most likely be paired with a superstar once again on the Bruins top line with David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha possibly moving over to left wing.

While mostly a defensive defenseman who tends to take a lot of penalties (he had 21 minors in 54 games with Vancouver last season), Zadorov had a very good playoff run with the Canucks with four goals and four assists in 13 games.

Both Zadorov and Lindholm were teammates in Calgary and then were both extended rentals for the Canucks. Now they’ll be together again Boston.
