Rapper Killer Mike won’t face charges after he was arrested at this year’s Grammys, just after winning several awards.
The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office confirmed in a statement to the Daily News that the 49-year-old “Legend Has It” rapper, whose real name is Michael Render, will not be charged criminally for the physical altercation at Crytpo.com Arena during the Feb. 4 awards show.
“Mr. Render has successfully completed the Office’s hearing process, including a community service requirement that was imposed,” a representative said, adding the attorney’s office declined to comment further.
Shortly after winning the Grammy Awards for best rap album (“Michael”) as well as best rap song and best rap performance for “Scientists & Engineers,” the Atlanta-based artist was detained at the arena and escorted out, as seen in footage published at the time by The Hollywood Reporter.
Two days later, in a statement to People, Killer Mike attributed the incident to “an overzealous security guard” and “confusion around which door my team and I should enter.”
The “Down By Law” rapper stated at the time he was fully confident he “will ultimately be cleared of all wrongdoing.”
