Tornado touches down across parts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island: National Weather Service
The wild weather that ripped through the region Wednesday night included a tornado, according to the National Weather Service’s Boston office.
Meteorologists confirmed that a tornado touched down across parts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, NWS Boston confirmed on Thursday.
The tornado started in Rhode Island and traveled into the Bay State, where it ended in North Attleboro. Storm damage was reported there on Thursday.
“Survey teams confirmed a tornado which occurred late evening on June 26th,” NWS Boston posted.
“Started in Lincoln, RI & tracked through Cumberland, RI & ended in North Attleborough, MA,” the Boston weather office added.
The meteorologists will later release more information on the tornado’s intensity, exact path, and damage.

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency was reporting tree damage in North Attleboro.

Around 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning for the Rhode Island and Massachusetts border.
