Genesis X Gran Racer VGT Concept for Upcoming Gran Turismo Game Gives More Inspiration for Brand’s Performance Excitement

Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury brand, has added another supercar to its impressive lineup, specifically designed for virtual racing enthusiasts. Unveiled at the 2024 Busan International Mobility Show in South Korea, the Genesis X Gran Racer VGT is a high-performance concept vehicle crafted for the popular Gran Turismo game.

This sleek, low-slung coupe serves as a successor to the X Gran Berlinetta, introduced in December 2023. Both vehicles are part of Genesis’s new Magma range of performance cars, distinguished by their striking orange paintwork. The X Gran Racer VGT, however, features a more aggressive design, including a prominent front splitter, new side skirts, a substantial rear wing, and a robust air diffuser. While the X Gran Berlinetta could easily pass for a street-legal model, the X Gran Racer VGT embodies a track-focused spirit.

Inside, both models share a similar cabin layout. However, the X Gran Racer VGT stands out with carbon fiber trim, a racing steering wheel equipped with three dials, and a slanted center console featuring a series of toggle switches. Additionally, Genesis has integrated a full roll cage and reinforced the doors with stronger crossbeams to enhance safety and rigidity.

Under the hood, the X Gran Racer VGT boasts a formidable gasoline-electric hybrid system. This includes a front-mid-mounted V6 engine paired with an electric supercharger and a front-mounted electric motor. While this powertrain is similar to the one found in the X Gran Berlinetta, it has been significantly upgraded for the X Gran Racer VGT, delivering a staggering 1,540 horsepower and 1,051 pound-feet of torque, compared to the Berlinetta’s 1,071 horsepower and 986 pound-feet of torque.

Genesis has confirmed that the X Gran Racer VGT will feature in an upcoming Gran Turismo game, though the exact release date remains undisclosed. This new concept car not only showcases Genesis’s commitment to performance and innovation but also promises to provide an exhilarating experience for virtual racers worldwide.
