New Car Preview: 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed

Bentley has unveiled the 2025 Continental GT Speed and GTC Speed, marking a new era for the luxury automaker with an electrified V8 engine. This latest addition to the Continental lineup combines a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine with an electric motor, generating an impressive 771 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. This makes the new Continental GT Speed the most powerful Bentley to date, boasting 19% more power and 11% more torque than its predecessor, the W12.

Performance and Powertrain

At the heart of the new Continental GT Speed lies a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine paired with a 187-horsepower electric motor. This potent combination allows the GT Speed to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 208 mph. The GTC Speed, while slightly slower, achieves a 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 177 mph. The new powertrain is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and features an electronic limited-slip differential, ensuring exceptional performance and handling.

Electrification and Efficiency

One of the standout features of the new Continental GT Speed is its electrification. Equipped with a 25.9 kWh battery pack, the car offers a (WLTP-estimated) all-electric range of 50 miles, making it a pioneering model in Bentley’s move towards greener technology. The vehicle can be fully charged in two hours and 45 minutes, and in electric mode, it can reach speeds of up to 87 mph with throttle inputs up to 75%. Bentley highlights significant reductions in CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

Advanced Chassis and Driving Dynamics

Bentley’s new Performance Active Chassis system underpins both the GT Speed and GTC Speed. This advanced system includes all-wheel steering, torque vectoring, a new generation of electronic stability control, and an active anti-roll system. Additionally, a new dual valve damper system and advanced air suspension ensure a balance between comfort and dynamic driving. With a perfect 50:50 weight distribution, the new Continental GT Speed promises an exhilarating yet controlled driving experience. For those seeking even greater performance, optional larger carbon silicon carbide brakes are available.

Design and Styling

Drawing inspiration from Bentley’s rich heritage, the new Continental GT Speed features design cues from the exclusive Bacalar and the classic 1952 Continental R-Type. The car’s profile is both muscular and elegant, with flowing lines and voluptuous rear haunches. The front fascia is inspired by the “upright elegance of a thoroughbred horse,” while the rear end has been restyled with a new bumper, taillights, and tailgate design. The 22-inch alloy wheels, inspired by the claws of a tiger, are available in black, silver, or dark tint paint with polished accents.

Luxurious Interior

Inside, the Continental GT Speed is a sanctuary of luxury. The cabin features a new precision quilt pattern on the seats and doors, creating a cocooning environment. Standard 20-way adjustable power seats can be upgraded with a Wellness seating package that includes postural adjustment and climate functions. The rotating display, 30-color ambient mood lighting, and a choice of three premium sound systems, including the top-tier Naim 2,200-watt system, enhance the in-cabin experience. Bentley also offers a Dark Chrome Specification package and numerous bespoke options through its Mulliner department.

Technology and Connectivity

The Continental GT Speed is equipped with a host of advanced technologies, including Intelligent Park Assist, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an air ionizer, and over-the-air updates. The new My Bentley App Studio allows for third-party app integration, while certain vehicle features can be controlled via a mobile phone. This blend of luxury and technology ensures that the Continental GT Speed remains at the forefront of modern automotive innovation.

Speed Record Holder

In a testament to its performance capabilities, the Continental GT Speed has set a new speed record, achieving 208 mph through the world’s deepest tunnel, the Ryfylke Tunnel in Norway. This accomplishment underscores Bentley’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive performance.

Bentley has yet to announce pricing and availability details for the new Continental GT Speed. However, further information is expected soon. Production will take place at Bentley’s renowned Dream Factory in Crewe, England, continuing the brand’s tradition of excellence in luxury automotive manufacturing.
