Saudi Arabia May 2024: Hyundai Accent best-seller

Hyundai Accent sales are up 220.2% year-on-year in May.

New car sales in Saudi Arabia gain 4.3% year-on-year in May to 61,937 units. The year-to-date tally is now up 4% to 312,197. Toyota (+2.4%) slightly trails the market but lodges a strong 29% share vs. 27.6% so far this year. Hyundai (+21.7%) is impressive in 2nd place with 17.3% of the market vs. 14.5% year-to-date as is Kia (+43.6%) at #3. In fact the entire Top 6 is identical to the YTD ranking, with Nissan (-15.9%), Ford (+9.1%) and Suzuki (+90.1%) in tow and with varying fortunes. Changan (-8%) is the best-selling Chinese brand at #8. Renault (+220.4%), Great Wall (+62%), Honda (+38.5%) and Dodge (+30.9%) also impress.

Over in the models lane, the Hyundai Accent (+220.2%) spectacularly takes the lead, toppling the Toyota Yaris Sedan (+1321.8%!) catching up on a paltry year-ago score. The Toyota Camry ICE (+21.4%) ranks third but would be #2 when adding HEV sales. Toyota places a third model in the Top 4: the Hilux (-0.9%), stable. The Hyundai Elantra (-49.7%) and Toyota Corolla (-29.7%) both freefall year-on-year unlike the Suzuki Swift DZire (+20.3%). Notice also the Ford Territory (+40.8%) up to a splendid 9th place, the Nissan X-Trail (+48.3%) up to #11, the Toyota Avanza at #12 and the Kia Sonet (+192.6%) up to #14 vs. #52 year-to-date.
