Red Sox lineup: Tanner Houck to take hill in series opener vs. Blue Jays
The Red Sox have been red hot, winning nine of their last 11 games to improve to a season-best six games above .500, and tonight they’ll send their ace to the mound to try and keep that momentum going.
Tanner Houck will get the ball as the Red Sox open this week’s three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Houck (7-5, 2.14) has been among the top starters in the American League through the season’s first half, and last time out he held the Blue Jays to two earned runs over 5.2 innings in Toronto.
Chris Bassitt (6-6, 3.52) is slated to start for the Blue Jays.
Boston’s lineup will tilt heavily left-handed to face Bassitt, with seven of the club’s nine starters batting from the left side. That includes each of the first four batters, who will be Jarren Duran, David Hamilton, Wilyer Abreu and Rafael Devers.
Hamilton will start at second base for the first time since May 24, and Ceddanne Rafaela will bat ninth and start at shortstop. The outfield will feature Tyler O’Neill in left, Duran in center and Abreu in right, and Reese McGuire will get the start at catcher.
