Uruguay May 2024: Fiat, Hyundai, BYD impress in market edging up

Fiat sales are up 32.2% year-on-year in May.

New light vehicle sales in Uruguay edge up 1.7% year-on-year in May to 4,792 units, bringing the year-to-date tally up 10.7% to 23,497. Chevrolet (-20.2%) remains comfortably on top of the brands charts despite going against the market with a steep year-on-year fall. In contrast Fiat (+32.2%), Renault (+4.7%) and Hyundai (+79%) deliver strong performances. Renault reclaims the third spot year-to-date as a result. BYD (+109.7%) post the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10 at #9 with Citroen (+26.6%) also strong.
