Singapore May 2024: Market up 44%, BYD (+555.2%), Hyundai (+156.9%) impress

BYD ranks #3 in Singapore in May.

New car sales in Singapore rally back up 44% year-on-year in May on a low year-ago reference. The year-to-date cume is now 35.9% to 14,802. Toyota (+6.6%) and Mercedes (+15.7%) top the brands ranking but both trail the market by a significant margin. It is not the case of BYD up another 555.2% year-on-year but down one spot on April to #3. At 11.9%, its market share is well below its YTD level of 14.8%. BMW (+29.6%) also drops one rank to #4 while Honda (+60.8%) stays at #5. Hyundai (+156.9%), Tesla (+131.1%) and Kia (+121.4%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10.
