Patriots shuffle roster, claim linebacker after before Day 3 of minicamp
The Patriots claimed linebacker Steele Chambers off waivers from the Lions on Tuesday afternoon. In a corresponding move, the team waived undrafted linebacker Jay Person.
Chambers, another undrafted free agent, was waived by the Lions on Monday. The 6-foot-1, 229-pound linebacker totaled 208 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks, four interceptions, five pass breakups, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and one touchdown over his last three seasons as a starter at Ohio State.

The Roswell, Ga.-native began his college career at running back before moving to linebacker.
Chambers joins Ja’Whaun Bentley, Christian Elliss, Joe Giles-Harris, Jontrey Hunter, Raekwon McMillan, Sione Takitaki and Jahlani Tavai at linebacker on the Patriots’ roster. Takitaki and Tavai have missed time this spring with injuries.
Person signed with the Patriots after the draft as a rookie free agent out of Chattanooga.
