Iceland May 2024: Kia #1 brand, Dacia Duster confirms domination

The Kia Sportage ranks #2 in Iceland in May.

2,008 new cars hit Icelandic roads in May, a 22.1% year-on-year drop. The year-to-date tally is now down -38.3% to 4,753. This month Kia (+2.5%) is the best-selling car maker with 18.3% share and also ascends to the YTD pole position with 13.8% of the market. Leader last month, Hyundai (+200%) is down to #2 but surges year-on-year. Toyota (-53.8%) is in freefall at #3 and 13.2% share. Dacia (+46%), Suzuki (+227.3%) and Skoda (+123%) all defy the market with fantastic gains. Land Rover (+11.3%) is also up and KG Mobility (ex-SSangyong) sky rockets up 5100% year-on-year to #9. #1 over the Full Year 2023, Tesla (-90.2%) completely implodes to #12 for the month and -86.5% to #9 year-to-date. The Dacia Duster continues to dominates the models ranking with 8.4% share this month, ahead of the Kia Sportage and Hyundai i20. Kia also places the Stonic at #4 while Hyundai has the i10 at #5.
