Teams of firefighters are responding to a five-alarm fire engulfing a Chelsea building on Revere Beach Parkway, according to reports from the area.

The fire is reportedly in the former former Russo’s Tuxedo shop, the Everett firefighters union said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. Cambridge firefighters also reported they have teams responding to provide mutual aid, according to a post on X.

Responders did not immediately state whether there were any occupants of the building or injuries.

“STAY CLEAR of the fire scene at 320 Revere Beach Parkway,” Chelsea Police posted on X. “Route 16 eastbound and westbound is completely shut down between Washington Ave and the Revere line. Vehicles should avoid the Prattville area as well as most roads are blocked off.”

The Chelsea Scanner reported the fire, then at two alarms, just after 10 a.m. The fire reportedly jumped to five alarms just after 11 a.m. Images from the scene show clouds of smoke pouring from the large building as teams work to control the blaze.
