Revs midfielder Esmir Bajraktarevic invited to U.S. Olympic camp
New England Revolution homegrown forward/midfielder Esmir Bajraktarević will depart Nashville in the hopes of reaching Paris.
Bajraktarevic, 19, has been named to the U.S. Men’s Olympic Team for its upcoming training camp in Kansas City, Kan., June 3-11. After the Revolution take on Nashville SC this Saturday night (8:30) at GEODIS Park, Bajraktarević will join the U.S. team for a friendly against Japan on June 11 at Children’s Mercy Park, the team’s final match before the final roster is selected.
Bajraktarevic has seen extensive minutes this season due to the congested MLS schedule combined with the Revolution’s six Concacaf Champions Cup matches. Bajraktarević has appeared in 11 of the team’s first 13 league matches, with a career-high seven starts. A three-year MLS veteran, Bajraktarevic has made 27 appearances and 13 starts.
Bajraktarevic made six Champions Cup appearances, recording one goal and a setting the club record for most assists (4) in the tournament.
Bajraktarević has made six appearances with the U.S. Olympic squad that included a goal in a 2-1 win against Mexico on Oct. 12, 2023. He competed in matches against Guinea and France back in March. Bajraktarevic is also eligible to compete for the U.S. Olympic U-23 team.
