Red Sox lineups: Tyler O’Neill (day-to-day) to sit again Tuesday

Over the weekend Red Sox manager Alex Cora said outfielder Tyler O’Neill would need a couple of days off as he battled knee soreness. He’d sit Sunday and Monday for sure, but Tuesday against Baltimore the outfielder could possibly return to the lineup.

Now that the day is here, it appears O’Neill will still need a little more time.

O’Neill is not in the lineup as the Red Sox face the Orioles for the second game of this week’s three-game set. Jarren Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu will instead comprise the outfield, with Rob Refsnyder serving as designated hitter and David Hamilton as the shortstop.

Coming off Monday’s 11-3 loss, the Red Sox will hand the ball to Brayan Bello (5-2, 4.04) try and even the series. Bello will face off against Baltimore’s Grayson Rodriguez (5-1, 3.20), who is coming off a strange outing in which he allowed two runs over five innings with seven strikeouts but also five walks.

The Red Sox enter the day 27-27 and 9.5 games out of first place in the AL East. They are currently 0-4 on the season against the Orioles, who rank second in the division at 34-18.
