Red Sox lineups: Kutter Crawford to start series opener against Brewers

With one of the best teams in baseball coming to Fenway Park this weekend, the Red Sox will hand the ball to one of their best pitchers for Friday’s series opener.

Kutter Crawford will make his 11th start of the season Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers, who enter the weekend first in the NL Central at 28-21 overall. Crawford (2-2, 2.17) will take on left-hander Jared Koenig (4-1, 2.70) and try to extend his streak of seven straight starts in which he’s pitched into the sixth inning.

Friday will also mark the return of local standout Sal Frelick to Fenway Park. The Lexington native and former Boston College star is playing his first game at his hometown ballpark as a major leaguer and is slated to start in right field and bat seventh for the Brewers.

Friday’s game will not be available to watch on NESN and will instead be broadcast exclusively by Apple TV+. Tonight’s game will mark the Red Sox second streaming-exclusive game in less than a week and is also the first of two consecutive Friday games being carried by Apple TV+.
