Seasonable spring temps ahead
The weekend’s unseasonable cool weather will end by Monday morning, when the sun will chase away the clouds and bring warm spring days to Boston, according to the National Weather Service.
NWS Meteorologist Bryce Williams told the Herald that Sunday’s chilly weather would give way to near 70-degree highs by the time lunch rolls around on the first day of the regular work week.
“We’re looking at a pretty seasonable week ahead, temperature wise,” the meteorologist said.
A slight chance of overnight showers should have moved on well before Monday’s commute begins, according to the weather service, and the forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and high of about 69 degrees.
It should be fairly warm overnight into Tuesday, with the low temperature staying in the 50s, though NWS is predicting a 30% chance of showers after 1 a.m.
Tuesday, Williams said, will almost certainly be the best day of the week as far as the weather is concerned, with partly sunny skies bringing temperatures in Boston north of 75 degrees and even warmer conditions further inland.
“Temperatures will peak on Tuesday,” he said. “It should be a pretty nice day, right now it’s the nicest day of the week.”
Temperatures could stay close to 60 degrees overnight heading into Wednesday, when the weather service predicts there is a 50% chance of rain after 8 p.m.
Umbrellas will almost certainly be required on Wednesday, according to Williams, when there is a 60% chance of rain called for most of the Greater Boston region.
“Our best chance of rain comes Wednesday,” he said.
Rain is still possible overnight into Thursday, though less likely according to the weather service, and temperatures should stay in the mid-50s overnight.
Partly sunny skies return again on Thursday, though in true New England fashion the day’s forecast also comes with a 30% predicted chance of showers, according to the weather service.
The rain should move on by Thursday evening, and overnight lows stay above the 50-degree mark.
No rain is called for an otherwise partly sunny and 65-degree Friday — as of now — but Williams warned there is currently a weather system moving toward the region that could make for a wet weekend.
“The weekend still isn’t a total loss at this point,” he said. “There is plenty of time for that to change.”
