Porzingis worked on a variety of shots and movements at half speed with team staffers, including some light defensive work, according to videos posted to social media. He shuffled side to side in a defensive pick-and-roll drill and took some one-legged shots off his injured right calf. Monday’s shoot-around marked Porzingis’ most intense workout during the media-access portions of team practices and shoot-arounds since he strained his right soleus during a first-round playoff win at Miami on April 29.

Working against assistant coaches, Porzingis took spot-up 3s, fadeaways from the mid-post and free throws, among other shots. Monday’s Game 4 marked his fifth straight game missed due to injury.

“He has been working the whole time and it’s always great to see him,” Derrick White told reporters at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, per MassLive. “We got his music playing (at shoot-around), hopefully it helps him heal faster. It’s always great to have him around, and we know he’s doing everything he can to get back as quickly and safely as possible.”

Porzingis is tracking to return sometime this postseason, though Monday’s workout indicated the 7-footer has multiple steps left in his recovery.

It’s possible Porzingis could play in the Eastern Conference Finals, should the team advance and then face either the Knicks or the Pacers. The East Finals are scheduled to start May 21 or 22, but could be moved up to May 19-20 if both conference semifinal series resolve soon.
