Stellantis to Recall 338,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees in US Over Control Arm Issue
Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, has announced a recall affecting 338,238 Jeep Grand Cherokees in the United States due to a concerning control arm issue. This move comes after a U.S. safety regulator flagged a potential problem that could compromise vehicle control.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) revealed that the affected vehicles will undergo a crucial fix, where dealers will replace the upper control arm pinch bolts at no cost to the owners. This proactive measure aims to address a specific concern related to the upper control arm ball joint and steering knuckle. If left unattended, this issue could lead to the separation of these components, resulting in the wheel falling outward. Such a scenario poses a significant safety risk as it could ultimately lead to a loss of control over the vehicle.
The recall targets certain models of the Grand Cherokee manufactured between 2021 and 2023, highlighting the scope of the problem and the necessity for swift action to rectify it. Stellantis and Chrysler’s decision to initiate this recall underscores their commitment to prioritizing consumer safety and ensuring the reliability of their vehicles on the roadways.
